I grew up in Blackheath, Blue Mountains NSW, the second youngest of five children. After secondary schooling at Mt St Mary’s Katoomba, I trained at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, went on to Midwifery and Infant Welfare training before going to Papua New Guinea as a Lay Missionary Nurse for 4 years. On my return I went back to St Vincent’s Sydney, gaining experience in both Medical and in the Accident and Emergency Centre.
I entered the Sisters of Charity on January 1st 1982 and was professed on 19th August 1984.
My years as a Sister of Charity have been a time of great blessing and challenge. The ministries I have gained experience in include General Nursing, Palliative Care, Bereavement Care, Prison, Parish Ministry, and Pastoral Care. I have had the opportunity of working in Africa following the genocide in Rwanda and in Macedonia with refugees from Kosovo and in Timor Leste.
At the Chapter in March 2021, I was elected as a Congregational Councillor. This has to be my greatest challenge to date, so I embrace this Call with faith and trust that the God who walks with me will continue to love and guide me in this role.
