Laureen Dixon rsc
Laureen grew up in Sydney and was educated by the Sisters of Charity at Lewisham and Ashfield. She gained her initial teaching qualifications at Catholic Teachers College, North Sydney.
In 1971, Laureen joined the Sisters of Charity. She taught and was principal in a number of schools in Sydney and Melbourne.
Laureen has post graduate qualifications in Religious Education and Masters degrees in Pastoral Studies and Theology. These qualifications have enabled her to be involved in adult education, community development, and Parish Administration.
From 2002 to 2014, Laureen was a member of the then Congregational Councils.
Laureen has held positions on the Boards of Sisters of Charity Community Care, the Sisters of Charity Foundation and was Chair of St Clare’s College, Waverley Board and as a Trustee of Catholic Healthcare. Also served as the Congregation’s representative on the Conference of Leaders of Religious Institutes (NSW) and was President for a time.
In 2006, in preparation for the establishment of Mary Aikenhead Ministries (MAM), Laureen was the Chair of the Prophetic Culture Task Force and joint coordinator of the project to prepare the Public Juridic Person (PJP) Petition to be sent to Rome.
In 2021, at the Congregational Chapter in Sydney, Laureen was elected as Leader of the Congregation. She exercises this ministry with the support of her councillors, Libbey Byrne, Adele Cottrell-Dormer, Margaret Guy, and Teresita Marcelo.
